The History In Motion room is our massive HO scale model train layout showcasing life in St. Thomas and the surrounding areas in the 20th century. The display models the operation of Southern Ontario railways between Windsor and Niagara Falls when steam, diesel, and electric railways were all competing.

Many of the wonderful buildings from our city’s history are depicted, including our very own Michigan Central Locomotive Shops, the Car Shop, the Canada Southern Station, Roundhouse and Turntable. Additional displays include the Wabash Railroad Yard which includes interactive elements for little engineers, London and Port Stanley Railway, and the Port Stanley Incline Railway. The model is the work of dedicated volunteers over the past 20 years! This exhibit will take you back to the past, to explore our history and delight with its unique charm.
